Is MODx right for me?

Hi all,

It’s my first post. I have a client that wants to produce a gallery site. It will need the functionality of a shopping cart system without the buying feature. The individual items will need to belong to specific categories, have specific "tags" that can be searched and contain pictures. I’m sure this is possible with MODx. Where should I begin?

Thanks for the help!

The first step (after installing MODx and maybe creating a site template) would be to get familiar with the MaxiGallery snippet which is designed to manage and present galleries of photos.

Very simple application for modx as you’ve described it.

Thanks for the quick replies! Are there any sites you can think of that make use of a system like this made with MODx? Inspiration is very helpful for me.

By the way, an example of the functionality i need can be found here. http://www.eisenhauergallery.com/?pg=art&view=byartist&artist=Michel%20Brosseau&-session=visit:D1A4135F16a242048CRlr1FAC15F

That Gallery page would not even require a gallery snippet. For more inspiration check out the you and your sites forum topic.

Here’s some other galleries made with modx we’ve done at collabpad but unfortunately don’t have time for creating tutorials on how they were done. We didn’t add much text to the images, but that would have been trivial.
