I want to design a TV with a list of possible values, using the "DropDown List Menu" input type, but I want it to be an open list, I mean, I want let the back-end user to introduce a value not in the list. The drop down list should be only a list of available options or suggestions, but the back-end user should not be restricted only to that list.

Is it possible to get this behavior for the TV, with the normal options in MODx? If yes, how?

If you can dream it, you can do it.

I suspect that the only way to do this would be to break the list out to a chunk or document and use @CHUNK chunkname or @DOCUMENT docId, and have the list in the chunk or document. The dropdown is populated by the list given in the input options field, and this can take data from a chunk or other source. Your editor would have to go to the chunk or document to edit the list.
