Issues with Modx Gallery extra

Hey there,

I recently decided to try out the Gallery extra in modx. Since it hasn't had an update since 2014, is there an updated extra that I should be using as its replacement?

I have a test gallery set up with three stock images, and I am calling it on the template with the following:

It is using all of it's stock chunks to call the code to create the thumbnails and so on.

The rendering of the gallery works perfectly, but when you go to click on any particular image, I get the following:
"https://www.placeholder.com/development/index.php?id=3&galItem=4&galAlbum=test&galTag="

I have fiddled around with the properties in the "gallItemThumb" chunk, and have had a few differed results, but none of them seemed to work.

My ultimate goal is to have the Gallery thumbnails link to open with lightbox, but I have not implemented that code yet, as I would like to get Gallery working properly first.

which lists an alternate chunk to call it differently, but after trying this, I get the exact same result.

Any ideas? I am currently on 2.5.0!

It's a nice extra I used on a project in early 2014. needs some getting used to to be able to use it a customize way that's different the default markup arrangement. Not sure but i see that many extras work with 2.5 regardless of how old they've been maintained. I'll be watching this thread cause I would like to know the latest possible alternative.

Having not been updated since 2014, I determined that long term usage of the Gallery extra was not feasible, considering at any point it could stop working. I went with the ModMore Gallery extra, found here: https://www.modmore.com/moregallery/. I feel as though this is a better option, and although it costs money, for sites that need a gallery section, this is an amazing tool. It also has pretty decent documentation, and support, as well as a bulk upload tool which works wonders. Another alternative for smaller galleries (sub 20 images) would be to use the Migx extra, but you would have to manually add each image in.

Don't forget TinyJSONGallery, an ultra powerful light, free gallery system. Its manager works front and back end.
Any resource or chunk or TV can be turned into a gallery/album.
No need to sluggishly upload anything via the gallery, do it on your own via SFTP or however you want.

MoreGallery is great. I haven't used TinyJSONGallery but seems like it's pretty cool. Although a dedicated component is almost certainly better...
