    Hi,

    I experience problems with polish installation. In some cases (hostings) it works fine and in another case it just won’t show/store polich characters. It’s probably all MySQL issue.
    Case1:
    - MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)
    - MySQL connection collation: utf8_unicode_ci
    - MODx tables and columns have the following collation: "latin2_general_ci"
    - in MODx manager I set language"Polish utf-8"
    - character coding for MODx manager is "UTF-8"

    In such configuration everything seems to work fine.

    Case2:
    - MySQL charset: ISO 8859-2 Central European (latin2)
    - MySQL connection collation: utf8_unicode_ci

    In such configuration, no metter what I set, it’s always wrong.

    - MODx tables and columns have the default collation: "latin1_swedish_ci" - I even change it later to other
    - MODx manager language setting does not help - "Polish utf-8", "Polish"
    - character coding for MODx manager also does not help "UTF-8", "Central European IS-8859-2", ...

    If I am able to set all the labels to display properly, I cannot force MODx to save and display polish characters properly. After saving the content probably MySQL does some kind of a conversion and spoils it. I get quaestion marks and other strange looking signs.

    Could You tell me what configuration should be done when I have to install MODx on a server with the following settings:
    - MySQL charset: ISO 8859-2 Central European (latin2)
    - MySQL connection collation: utf8_unicode_ci
    ?

    PS: I am using the newest version of MODx - 0.9.6.2

    Thanks
    Greg

          Hi,

          I still have the problem. I have added
          global $database_connection_method;
          to dbapi.mysql.class.inc.php

          My configuration is the following:
          - in config.inc.php I have:

          $database_connection_charset = ’latin2’;
          $database_connection_method = ’SET CHARACTER SET’;

          The MySQL server collation: ISO 8859-2 Central European (latin2)

          I am not able to ger any polish characters running properly sad

          I have noticed that tables in MySQL has latin1_swedish_ci

          PS: How can I apply the patch from JIRA (http://svn.modxcms.com/jira/browse/MODX-185) I am not familiar to JIRA sad

          Thanks

            If this doesn’t work for you, I think it’s not the problem of release 0.9.6.2.
            It must be rather general MySQL character code problem...

            I’m not a MySQL savvy and I’m not familiar with the european characters, so I can not help you.

            I doubt this is not good ...

            I think you need UNIX patch command to use that bugfix.
            I recommend to download latest SVN version with a subversion client.
            MODX-185 is already fixed in the SVN repository.
