Novice needs help!

Hi,

I am NOT a technical type person, however, I am the most technical person in our office (scary!)
We use this product to edit our website's content.
One of the options no longer shows up on our homepage menu.
It says, "web access = private"
How do I change it to public or open (or whatever the terminology is) so that it shows up on the menu again...it used to be there.

Created 2007? Must be a really old version of MODX!
I started using it in 2008 but even that I can barely remember.. hopefully someone else can help you. However I would suggest getting your CMS upgraded for security reasons if nothing else.

You running EVO so most of the documentation you see won't be relevant. The EVO docs are here:

Also in the top right of the manager screen what version does it say?

When you edit the protected page, do you see the tab Access Permissions?

If so click on that and then check the "All Resource Groups (Public)" and save.

If you don't see that then you likely have a limited manager account, you would need to get the account with full admin rights. If you don't know this you'll need access to the database.
