Hello
I have a modx installation with some blog entries - I’d like to show the very same blog entries in another modx installation - is this doable and what would be the best way to do it. I’d rather not copy all the entries from one modx installation into the other.
I know that I could use ditto to create the rss in the source modx installation but how could I show the entries then in the target modx installation.
any guidance is very much appreciated.

There’s several feed reader snippets; I’ve always had success with FeedX.

(why isn’t this in the repository?)
I’ll have a look at that - thanks for the hint
I’m still kind of lost with this RSS stuff - I’ve an xml sitemap in the document tree - the preview shows up a bunch of links. I tried to refer to that page in the 2nd modx installation using feedx - I guess I miss something but I can’t get this stuff to work. First of all, is there anything else needed on the source site - although the sitemap.xml shows up in the document tree, entering something like domain.com/sitemap.xml results in an error -> Not Found. What other steps are needed in order to get this to work.
Thank you in advance for your input.
o.k. - I think I got a little further - still struggling with all those parameters.
what I was wondering though is whether it is possible to set up some paging - let’s say I’ve 10 news items but I like to only show 2 per page - how could this be done?
Thank you in advance for your help.
anybody?
Anybody? I really like to get this going - does anybody know whether there is a way to do paging when using FeedX.
Thank you again and sorry for bumping

I would think that the paging would have to be done on the receiving end.
Hello Susan
thanks for replying - I think so too - I’m able to get the desired feeds from one site into the other so I don’t have to copy/paste the content from one site to the other - however, I’d like to have some paging in the destination site but I couldn’t find any parameter in FeedX that would allow me to do so - maybe I’m missing something.

That’s another story altogether. I think a bit of javascript would be useful here. Your feed reader is going to have to fetch the whole feed (or as many items as you want), and the javascript will paginate it. You really don’t want the whole page to refresh just to fetch another group of items from the feed, and it would take more code on the backend supplier to send just the requested items (unless you want to write a whole new AJAX feed generator for MODx, of course!)
Here’s a jquery one, used in this case for table rows, but I suspect it could be modified to work with unordered lists or any other defined structure.

I thought of using javascript for this too - hope I’ll find a mootools script otherwise I’ll try to convert the jquery paginate plugin to mootools.
thanks again
