I’ve been using MODx for about 6 months now on my site socialenterprise.net. Someone else originally set up the site who I’m not able to get a hold of right now. For the first time I tried creating a new backend user and tried to save save changes to the site configuration under the Tools tab. In both cases I received the following error within the manager screen (I guess you’re using iframes here).

    "H-SPHERE
    Error 404: File Not Found

The requested page is not found. This may happen due to the following reasons:

    * Page or file is outdated, renamed, moved, or does not exist.
    * You typed the address incorrectly, like http://www.example.com/pgae.html instead of http://www.example.com/page.html

Please contact your webmaster if you are not sure what goes wrong."

Another problem I’m having which may or may not be related is that I’m not able to resort the site document tree in the manager, but I am able to apply all of the other functions at the top of the document tree.

Any advice or clues as to the cause of and solutions to either of these problems would be greatly appreciated.

    My site info
    MODx version 0.9.6.1p2
    Web Server Linux Apache
    PHP Version 5.2.5
I get the same error on Firefox 3 & Safari on a Mac and IE6 on a PC.

Not sure if this is related, but I’ve also discovered that my main menu is now being displayed in order by document ID, the same order that the document tree is stuck in on the document manager. This is happening despite the fact that I’m using the default "menu index" order for this main menu. It just all of a sudden changed. It had been in the correct order all along.

I’ve got 5-9s of certainty that your web host recently upgraded your MySQL version to 5.0.51 (or any version thereof), a known issue frequently discussed on these forums.

Just checked. They are using 5.0.45, so I guess I fall into the .00001 possibility, which is?

The connection library reported under phpinfo() can be different than the actual mysql version being used.

The mysql version reported in the phpinfo is the version of the client that is being used to access the MySQL server, not the version of the MySQL server. If php has been updated to a newer version it will have the latest client libraries, but it’s quite possible that the MySQL server itself was not also upgraded.

Maybe that should be added to the sysinfo, along with the charset information, for 0.9.6.3... wink

I’m currently checking with my host directNIC.com on what version they are using and if it’s 5.0.50 or 5.0.51 whether they are willing to change.

                  My hosted responded with

Our current Premium Hosting system configuration is:
                  Apache 1.13.37 (Unix)
                  PHP version 5.2.3
                  MySQL version 5.0.0

So it looks like that wasn’t the culprit. Any other sugestions? Also, is whatever is causing the sort order issue possibly causing the error page I’m getting when creating new users or saving site configration?

No idea honestly then on this end, as I’ve never seen that happen that I recall when MySQL 5.0.51 was not involved.

                      MySQL version 5.0.0
I sure hope that is not accurate, as 5.0.0 was the very first release and as such, quite buggy and full of security vulnerabilities.  I’m pretty sure some of this is related to having some of the new STRICT sql_mode settings on the MySQL server but those should be mostly fixed in the recently released 0.9.6.2. And am still willing to bet it is 5.0.51 being run. The 404 errors you first reported could be related to mod_security.
