When I get to the point of "login" at the end of the installation, I get a public_html/modx/manager directory view with only config.core.php in it.
Happened with both 2.5.0 and 2.4.4. Modx tables are in MySQL and connect OK in the previous steps, compress_css and compress_js both set to zero. All folder permissions at 0755.
What is going on and what can I do now ?
AFAIK I only have cPanel access to the server.

Check your server's error log (cpanel may grant this via a log utility or you might be able to look at this manually using file manager). There's likely something in the log that would give you a clue as to what's going on.

You can unzip the MODX .zip file and put the manager files in place manually, then re-run setup.

Thanks for the replies.
I ran a Softaculous install script provided by the host. ModX is running now.
Nothing showing up in cPanel provided server error log (Where is it in case I look with file manager ?)

That's interesting. Often, people experience the opposite -- the Softaculous install doesn't work but installing MODX the regular way works.
