Hi. I’m starting with MODx (fantastic cms) and I’d like some advise about forum app to use with it. I knew there’s a discussion about MODx have it own forum, but I can’t await.
I’m a teacher and I have a small site to support my classes and interact with my students; I intend to offer space to a few more teachers to do the same but, anyway it’ll ever be a small site, with a very limited community. What I need is a light and really user-friendlyf orum with a good wysiwyg editor (even in comments forms) and a file manager sensible (to uploads imgs and files). I also would like a forum which works well with MODx.
    What do you recommend?

(P.S.: Sorry for my languages mistakes. I’m brazilian and haven’t had much english chat these days embarrassed )
      Regards,

If you want integration between the site and the forum (user-wise), you’re stuck w/ SMF.

If you just need to grab news/latest registered user/latest topics/total ____ numbers, you could also use MyBB.

IIRC, there was someone working on Vanilla-integration. Dunno if it was completed, though.

Vanilla is not done, it’s been pushed back to 0.9.7+ I think. Paul had started working on BBPress, but it has been dropped long ago... too bad, since they’re both good lightweight forums.

MyBB could indeed be a choice, but lot of their code has changed since the MyBB bolt on MODx addon, and MyBB is not very light... basically if you want your board integrated that would mean SMF, not light by any stretch...

If you just need a visual integration, then I’d go for BBPress or Vanilla.

Thanks a lotfor your time Sishite and davidm!
Sorry for don’t answer before. Soshite, I had put an answer early for your post, thought everything was ok, but seems I’ve got a "time out" im my connection and the post was lost. I just saw the error now. I’ve follow your tip and visit Mybb page but was unsure about the wysiwyg editor and other issues. I saw a lot of post about problems with integration, so I decide await a bit more.

Thanks for update me, davidm. I was browsing MODx pages and get the wrong idea about Vanilla project. I agree with you - too bad we don’t have Vanilla and BBpress - both foruns have a MODx’ look...

Anyway, I’ll try SFM integration; if this don’t work to my taste, I’ll get the easy way and just use BBPress or Vanilla. I don’t care too much about visual integration; actually, I just want a forum because I could use the structure to simulate a e-learning system.

          Thanks again.
