However, if we set it to 1 or yes or use it all, the registration form does not go to the thank you page. If we remove it and put in a password field and and a confirm password field so that the user can set the password, the registration form works.

We don't want the user to have to set the password because the client will be generating controlled registrations on the front end to very specific people and we don't want the client to have to think up a password each time (it's a little easier for the client this way rather than doing it in the backend, they often forget to set the correct Access Permissions).

Has anyone used &generatePassword successfully?

Didn't notice &validatePassword was auto set to 1. Have to set it to:
&validatePassword=`0`
