I think further steps would be necessary if you've renamed the manager and/or connectors directories.

I rename manager and connector folder and move core folder above root... The last step is running the MODX installer to upgrade those directories.

@mewolari I believe @clareoconsulting answered that question.

For what it's worth, that is how I upgrade Revo too; both "regular" and advanced installs. One thing his method does is an implicit backup -- a very important thing. I make sure to do that before the straight merge tactic I use.

I do see a hypothetical advantage to his method in that if there are files that are obsoleted by an upgrade, his method will get rid of them, and a straight merge won't.]]>
