独断的な部分もありますが、フォーラム初心者の方には有効かと。

１．基本操作

（１）”Search via SMF”をクリック　　　※”Google Search”の左隣
　　http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?action=search

（２）"Advanced search"をクリック
　　http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?action=search;advanced;search=

２．検索条件の指定　（朱書き：注意／推奨）

（１）Search for:　キーワード（複数指定可。スペース／カンマ区切り）

（２）by user:　ユーザで絞り込み（複数指定可。カンマ区切り）

（３）Options:　検索範囲の指定

　Show results as messages:　投稿文　　　　※チェック
　Search in topic subjects only:　トピック／スレッド名　※チェック

（４）Search order:　表示順序

　Most relevant result first:　返信が多い順
　Lagest topics first:　文字数が多い順
　Smallest topics first:　文字数が少ない順
　Most recent topic first:　新しい順　　　　　※選択
　Oldest topic first:　古い順

（５）Choose a board to search in, or search all: 掲示板の選択

　例　Japanese板の話題だけに絞る場合
　　・一番下の" Check all"をクリックしてすべてのチェック状態を解除
　　・"Japanese"板配下をすべてチェック

　　※本家板も対象にする場合は上から順にチェックしていくと早いかも、です。
