I solve this problem.
After installation file /assets/modules/smforum/smf_api_1.1.php is broken. The contents of the file has been commented out. Copy this file from installation folder and replace. I would also like to mimic this site by integrating the forum into the template. Is this integration just a SMF template or has modx been tweaked to integrate the forum inline with the site template?
