just to post here a solved problem about displaying images in the FCKeditor browser.
After uploading a file in the FCKeditor images browser, thumbnails didn’t appear anymore.
It’s because I upload a file like "dureté" with accent. Rename your file without accent and you’ll see anew your pictures in the browser.

j’ai rencontré un problème d’affichage des images dans le browser FCKeditor en voulant insérer des images. J’avais uploadé une image avec un nom comportant des accents. Renommez vos images sans accent et vous retrouverez le thumbnail.

Si ce n’est pas le problème, alors je vous conseille de consulter le forum pour d’autres solutions.

I moved a site to a different host, and it worked perfectly except for image thumbnails being not seen in Tiny. I played with all the usual paths, and nothing helped.

Finally I decided to examine the thumbnails. They were totally borked, full of "distortion" when I displayed them. I don’t know if FTP borked them; I sort of doubt it, because my FTP program handles them as binaries, hard to say.

The solution was dirt simple in my case. All I had to do was delete all the thumbnails in assets/images (not the images). Then I opened the File Browser again and voila, the thumbnails were all re-generated and looked gorgeous.

I would guess that maybe on the different host the thumbnails are generated slightly differently or something. I hope that helps someone.

Actually, the start-of-image (SOI) marker is at offset 3.

So, any idea why and how there are 3 bytes at the beginning of my thumbnail that don’t belong there?

there is some image preview issue that doesn’t get solved by correcting the resource path & url.

I created a folder through the TinyMCE dialog and I don’t see it. I am sure this is a bug and will be corrected shortly so this would only be a temporary fix.
