Most of the traffic is either here at the forums, twitter, or maybe spotty here and there at stack overflow. I'm glad to only be insanely drawn to ONE site (here at the forum) or app and hardly ever bother to casually check anywhere else.

Maybe I ought to check out IRC again. I wonder if my account is still active? heh...

Ideal would be some kind of IRC like chat in the sidebar here. Did I mention I don't care to spread myself too thin?]]>

@Susan: Twitter and Google+ are "asynchronous", not intended for live exchanges. Personally, while I'll tweet occasionally about ModX or other areas where I'm working, I don't use it as a medium for active discussions on a specific topic. I don't want to chase away the group of people who follow me by tweeting incessantly about something not related to them. No, IRC is a better venue for this.

That said, Twitter is just a popular micro-blogging app, and there are FOSS microblog apps. I have one installed on my server, which is essentially a Twitter-like environment but just for people who want to chat about another app. A micro-blog like this can be setup where people can tweet incessantly about anything related to ModX:
- "I'm in foo.js and I just saw a mis-spelling"
- "Having fun in manager\assets\modext\workspace today"
- "Anyone know what the foo property in the Blah plugin is?" ...
So outside of Twitter, micro-blogging can be an asychronous hoot.

If there is enough demand, I'll setup such a micro-blog on my domain and people can poke at it. In the mean-time however, I'm hoping to see more feedback on making more use of IRC - or reasons why people can't or won't.

Thanks again.]]>

How about starting 2013 with a plan for regular gatherings? I've done this before - if I propose something like "Wednesdays at 10pm GMT (2pm PST)", about 50% of the group will say they can't make it. The best plan is to pick non-regular days and times. Some people will make it and others won't. That's just the way it goes.

For now, I'll leave my bot on like everyone else. If you see CaptainStarbuck, say Hi!]]>
