I've clicked on Clear Cache in the Manage dropdown but nothing happens.

I'm trying to make changes page by page, but this is causing a headache.

MODX is designed really so that you can set it up however you want so there's no particular right or wrong way. However, I think the more common approach, for me atleast, is to create a chunk called $headerHTML and throw in your head markup there and likewise for the footer.]]>

You mean for me to add that that in the page template and then add the query to the css file name?

Whoever built the site didn't include a separate header file for managing scripts. Not sure if that is how Modx is meant to be but I think I'm going to have to update a dozen files to do that!]]>

The manager's clear cache however should work but if not then try putting a query at the end of the url. ie: http://www.domain.com/index.php?id=1?refresh

Change the id number for the id of the resource you're trying to force a refresh on.
