Thank you Susan, I do find a lot.

I guess after my rant I don't know how adoption actually happens, or where, or how...I do feel the "starter packs" are lost within the various random themes like color themes, which are nice but don't spur adoption by themselves.
    • You are quite correct. Work is being done on the Extras page - in fact the MODX repository altogether, so once that is done I think it will be much easier to deal with.

There's a lot going on for MODX, @iusemodx — maybe we can get on the phone and chat about it? You can email me yj (at) MODX dot com or ping me in Slack "sepiariver". Would love to discuss your perspective on things smiley

In February of 2015 MODX launched an accessibility campaign that took people's money and promised to keep them up to date.

Campaign updates will appear here and on the MODX Blog.

There has been one update published.

We launched our fundraising campaign to make the MODX Revolution Manager accessible just over a week ago. Since then, we’ve had a wonderful response, with generous donors from around the world. To date we’ve raised a $29,648 including the $25,000 from The Ohio State University—just shy of 60% of our goal! The other comes from:

        - 76 awesome MODX Community members
        - Each contributing an average of $57.
        - Three individuals generously gave $500.
        - Eight others showed a big thumbs-up with $100.
        - 43% of supporters have made contributions of $25.

Basically all that update covers is how much money was raised. Prior to MODXpo 2015 I requested another update be drafted. Is there so much going on at the LLC you don't have time to keep your commitment on keeping contributors up to date? Or do you consider 14 months with no informative update of progress worthy of the MODX Community? This lack of transparency and information is beyond problematic.

Regarding Slack. Is there some sort of good guide to using it? I find it incredibly confusing.
Me too. What a mess smiley

Basically Slack teams are made up of Channels (conversations), Users, and Direct Messages. There are several channels that you can join and you can manage notification preferences for each. You can 'tag' a person in a message by using the @username shortcut. That will send them an email and make sure they see the message.

That's about it. The one downside IMO is that we don't have infinite history, so you can only read so far back within the app. I believe MODX.org does have a public archive discussions eventually wind up in.

            • I like Slack for getting immediate help when needed, but in all honesty I'm more of a searcher than an asker most of the time because 9 times out of 10 for anything I need, MODX or not, someone else has had the same problem and there are multiple solutions to try. I also prefer not to bother people and take up other's time if it's already been answered.

With Slack, nothing is searchable outside of the limit of posts allowed for the community, and while you can "read up" on various channel's discussions if it's not pertinent to my interests at the moment I won't take the time to read anything except the last few entries on any given channel. Conversely, if a thread at the forum is not pertinent to me, I just skip it and read what I'm interested in. I like that bit of control. However, these same threads are searchable if I find myself needing info, thankfully.

If this archive you mention JP exists, I'm not finding that it's searchable outside of Slack. ??

I'm enjoying for the first time in 3 years the ability to keep up with current threads here at the forums because my sessions are finally sticking and I can actually remain logged in with updated notifications (still no emails, but at least I can see a count of replies and new threads). Not being able to effectively participate at the forums has been particularly frustrating, to the point of just not bothering to even check in but every now and again.

I looked for the link but couldn't find it. Ask Mark.

I don't think Slack is supposed to replace the Forums, or vice versa. They are two separate communication channels, although I do think since there are certain short comings with the forums as you mentioned, the community is attempting to use Slack as a forum.

Back to the main topic. Does MODX have a future. I think it more for personal point of view. In small country like in Finland, almost all major digi/web-companies have adobted one of these monsters: WP, Drupal & (Ugly little cross eyed monster) Joomla.

In CMS business, almost all open job positions reguires WP or Drupal knowledge. That is one and only reason why i consider to "abandon" MODX and start to learn Drupal or WP. I know it's kind of stupid, but you have to think what brings bread to the table.

I like MODX. Haven't truely tried any other system to be honest smiley Story would be different if working as freelancer or in personal projects, but as an job seeker in the open job market, MODX is not "careerwise" move. So if you want to get hired (In Finland), don't bet on MODX or other CMS, which falls into this 1% category.

Also if MODX could show any growth in Market share, but it doesn't to seem growing any bigger?

I've been also pondering, why MODX is not growing even if it's getting good reviews
