Ryan, is that the version that's running here?

About 99% of it is, yes. I think we're pretty much in sync with the main Discuss now, but we may have a few minor customisations in our "fork" that don't make much sense out of our context.

Ok guys I read through the documents from the website scott told me about and all I have to say is this. I know have more knowledge on Modx discuss and I am now more confused. As far as I saw there was nothing about how to put the discuss snippets together to make the login work and the registration. Also I hope that this is not the final release of discuss because from what I saw it is not much different from the vanilla forums which are hard to change. Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I saw in the making your own theme Documentation you have to go through many different files in many different places to get anything changed which is just not what I had expected from Modx.
                • In the first place, my name isn't scott. In the second place you were warned.

After the installation of Discuss, you will likely want to throw your own style in it right away. Now, before you get going, grab yourself a coffee, you've got some learning to do.

Ready? Okay. Discuss is big. No really, it is. Even though you may not expect it, forums are complicated! This getting started guide will help you make sense of the various moving parts and how to make Discuss your b.. er how to make it your own. Here's what we'll discuss:

You will barely be using the standalone snippets. Due to the enormous amount of views (controllers) that exist in a forum, it simply would be a ton of work setting up the required resources with the snippets alone. Using the controllers and templates as we do is different from what you're used to, and that's why I've personally tried to make the documentation on how to use it as clear as possible.

After reading the installation, getting started and theming docs, you should be ready to start changing things.

There's a lot of files, yes, but that's again because of the complexity of a forum. And yes: everything can be changed in the right file. The discuss.debug_templates (sp?) system setting can make that quite easy, as it will annotate every used file-chunk with a comment what chunk it is and where the file is located.

Is this a final release of Discuss? No way. I personally consider it a beta, with a plea to the community to dive in and to help out make it better.
