An FTP/SFTP app can show you the owner but to change it you need to either login as root on your server or ask your webhost to change it.

      John,

under the heading Owner/Group it shows an 8 digit number.

And it's the same number for everything.

While I can login as root via a panel, I don't see any option for users.

In any event, I'm not sure that permissions are the issue as I was able to get these plugins things working in a separate sub directory install.

Taking a different tack, do you know where the path TinyMCE uses for links is actually written? Is there file line or dB folder I can check?

Ok you mentioned a few msgs back that it works on modx installed in a sub folder. can you open two FTP windows and cycle through the components and/or tiny mce folders on the working and the not working setups and compare directory owners?

Or...since a 404 is being generated, you can use an addon for capturing exactly what script or url is causing the 404...Notify404 is the name of one (LogPageNotFound) is another.

          John

the owner groups are exactly the same.

          Notify gives:

          Date & time: 25 Mar 2013 - 11:13:10
          Requested: /assets/components/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/modxlink/link.php?v=226pl
          Host: http://makethemclick.com.au
          Visitor IP: 124.178.181.163
          Referer: http://makethemclick.com.au/manager/index.php?a=30&id=253

          And Log gives
[2013-03-25 11:17:26] (ERROR @ /index.php) Could not load class: Redirector from redirector.
[2013-03-25 11:17:26] (ERROR @ /index.php) Problem getting service redirector, instance of class Redirector, from path /home/hotbutto/public_html/core/components/redirector/model/redirector/

Not exactly sure what to do with that information.

Plus I don;t have Redirector installed.

Sorry I have no idea. I thought it would have been permissions. If indeed all the permissions and owners are the same for all the folders from assets down to that last modxlink folder are the same, then I dont know why its not working. In my case it was the assets folder that had an incorrect owner and when I fixed it, it worked.

              Hmm,

if I try and open that file directly I still get a Page Not Found error

              /assets/components/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/modxlink/link.php?v=226pl

I also get the same error for any other .php files in there. IE search.php

However I don't get it for htm files. ie link.htm

So for some reason it can't read or find php files.

              Weird.

              • I once ran into something like this before. The client's hosting had some kind of security setting that wouldn't allow the running of PHP files below a certain depth in the directory structure. It was set to 4 levels, and TinyMCE needs at least six levels, as you can see. He got the hosting to adjust the levels in the security settings, and all was well.

                  Susan,

except that it works fine in a second Revo installation in a sub folder.

I think I might have to just manually recreate the site in the sub folder and then move it back to the root directory.

                  Not looking forward to that.

This is why I still think its folder permissions. Could just be one folder that's gone out of whack. I know you said you checked it but maybe you can have your host take a look at it. Can't hurt.
