Sending Broadcast messages to a group of users?

I'm wondering if I can pimp out MODX's messaging capabilities. Specifically, I'd like to be able to send messages to *ALL* users on a site, or to an entire User Group, or even to certain roles within the groups. How cool would that be, right? A broadcast utility?

This might make for a good little CMP utility...

Sounds like a great add-on.

You might add an option to send them an email instead of a message. I think you could use the EmailResource class (or just some of its code) to email the content field of a resource to them with inline CSS.

Thanks Bob. Yeah, an email would be just as well. Sometimes I think there might be a need to obscure the email address and force users to login... but that's probably not a realistic use case. Basically, I want to be able to send emails between users without disclosing their actual email addresses.
