that’s how this module/snippet works.
the filename will be renamed.
the real name will be stored as the DB content, while the file itself will be renamed as the image ID.
try [!easy2?fid=`imageid` !]
[!easy2? &gid=`2` &w=`60` &h=`60` &thumb_tpl=`gallery`!]

I could really do with getting it to work without using a custom thumbnail template. I did manage it but each time I click an image it opens up larger (as it should), but the large image seems to have a title tag attached to it... and inside the title tag is loads of Russian text!
I’ve looked in the template file and taken various bits of code out, but can’t seem to narrow it down!

When doing the settings for the thumbnails, I would love to have the option to set width or height to "auto". They should get computed by looking at the image’s aspect ratio. I need this to properly render galleries with mixed format images, where I do not want to crop the thumbnails to square format, because that is sometimes rather brutal (People’s heads get cut off: http://braut.praegnanz.de/kollektion/brautmode)
Any ideas?
function get_thumb ($gdir, $path, $w = 150, $h = 150, $thq=80, $resize_type = 'inner') {

Does autogallery allow for thumbs and big image to be displayed on the same page? is it easy to re-arrange the layouts?well, not autogallery in case you mixed up the threads
