I once created a template with two top full-width div containers, a three-column center container using five divs, and a single full-width footer div. Then I put every snippet and chunk I had into each of the top sections and both of the side columns, including menus, news listing, photo galleries, search forms and login forms. I used different CSS files with a lot of "display:none" to control the actual final display; even a single-column with a horizontal menu across the top, all in the CSS. It wasn’t really practical, since the HTML source was pretty big, having everything in it three or four times, but it was fun to play with.

Is there any good website with some cSS layout samples? I’m still trying to figure out how exactly you can position everything correctly.
thanks in advance,
Blaise
P.S.: sorry for the question, i’m trying to let the ’old school’ methods for the new CSS things, but it’s not as easy as it was with tables :p

Good luck with your CSS’ing and MODx’ing Blaise. And if you have questions about my markup, CSS, or if there is anything I could clarify for you, please don’t hesitate to contact me. The least I can do for this project with so many people that have donated their time and expertise, is donate my to anyone in need. And I do have time to help.
