i’m having issues with the upgrade. for some reason its showing the following message
Checking if /assets/images, /assets/files, /assets/flash and /assets/media directories are writable: FAILED!
I’ve tried changing the directory permissions to 777 without any change?
Are you on Windows hosting or Linux?

Hi Onesmarthost,
I’m using a Linux box.
PHP version: 5.2.10
MySQL version: 5.0.81-community
Have you tried checking what the existing chmod permissions are? perhaps they are not updating when you are applying chmod 777.
Also check your paths, apart from that I’m not too sure what else the problem could be.
Thanks Aaron.

Hi Aaron,
The install is finding the directories:
Checking if /assets/images, /assets/files, /assets/flash and /assets/media directories exists: OK!
and the chmod has been set to 777 (i’ve tried login out of FTP and rechecking and can confirm)
I’m stuck
hmmm that sure is a strange one, if it was a Windows server I would know more
My only other thought is to try and upload a file via manager - manage files just to make sure.
Aaron
Actually another thought has occured depending on how you uploaded the new MODx install you might have to do chmod assets/files/*.*

Hi Aaron,
I’ve managed to track down the issue, thanks for the help
I have now managed to install Evolution, however when I enter the admin it fails to show me a welcome page, and more importantly I can’t access my website configuration page

my ManagerManager settings fail to work, the calendar tools also fail to work under publishing settings and I’ve had to manually remove QuickEdit. I’m going to retry my upgrade to see if there was an issue with my FTP upload. Its not going smoothly but hope its worth the hair pulling

I had the same issue in a upgrade - my solution where to deactivate zlib.output_compression in php.ini!
