    Hi,
I´m trying to install the MR version but, I get a blank page, I followed the info and have
triple check everything in the yellow box on this page
    http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/revolution/Fresh+Installation

    Except no: 4.

    This is a fresh install

Any suggestions to get this working?
Will this info speed up replies to my inquiries?

      Web Server:
      Apache/2.2.9 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.9 OpenSSL/0.9.7a mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 PHP/5.2.5

      Database:
      MySQL 4.1.22-standard

      MODx:
      9.6.1.
Any changes you've made: just add new pages
Any snippets you're running on the page that is not working properly: not that far yet
Any plugins you're running: just the one that come with the .zip

      1. So I’m assuming you tried the advanced version?
      2. Is this your server info: Apache/2.2.9 (Unix) PHP/5.2.5 MySQL 4.1.22-standard ?
      3. Is this alpha-2 you’re trying?
      4. Is there anything in your core/cache directory?
      5. Is there a core/cache/error.log, and what does it say?

        Yes

        3. Is this alpha-2 you’re trying?
        yes

        4. Is there anything in your core/cache directory?
        Just one index.html file.

        5. Is there a core/cache/error.log, and what does it say?
Not one I can find but in cPanel I get this info:

        Mon Jul 14 16:24:01 2008] [error] [client 157.157.81.121] PHP Fatal error: require_once() [<a href=’function.require’>function.require</a>]: Failed opening required ’./includes/protect.inc.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/mysite/public_html/index.php on line 59, referer: http://mydomain.com/manager/frames/index.php?a=1&f=menu

          Just one index.html file.

This is your problem. You need to make sure the core/cache dir is writable. It should have stuff in it.

The core/cache dir is writable (777) I double checked everything in that yellow box before I even tried to install.

              Dear all,

In Japan, we experienced same trouble.

              >SeoSem
Is php of your server the safe mode?

Installer of MODx 2.0 make folder under the /core/.../....
But in the case of the safe mode, folder’s owner is apache. And permission is 705( or 604).
In this state, installer can not create directory/files under the /core/.../.
Installation is not completed in this state.

My server can change owner to me from apache.
Can you do this ? If it can do, you could install.

              OR:
Can you change php mode to CGI mode ?
If it can do so, you also could install.
              • Don’t use the advanced if you do not have root access to your machine. Use the traditional package (not advanced, and not sdk).

No, I did not use advenced version. I used the following:
                    http://wtf.modxcms.com/downloads/?relPath=core > "modx-2.0.0-alpha-2.zip (333 downloads)".
