Due to resource limits on our Shared Hosting machines, it is not possible to allocate more than 20M
of memory to PHP, although phpinfo() may report a higher number. You will be unable to increase
the memory usage limit with a php.ini file.
So it seems that this host 1and1 which personally I am not a fan of has this text on their website

So the default Revolution that you can download from modx.com works without any problems but when upgrading from SVN it does not.
Other CMSs reported the same problem.
I guess it’s time for a phone call or search for a new host. All have their goods and bads.
Thx
Their admin panel is not as good as 1and1 but I guess it does the job.
I have a client using bluehost but as I said not impressed.
I have done extensive memory profiling and with the latest from SVN (branches/2.0), both new installs and upgrades will work with 24M, so I doubt it is a memory_limit problem here.
I would try upping the memory_limit to at least 64M (if not 128M) for the setup.
Never seen those before on any installations I’ve done, but we’ll look into it. Can you file a Jira ticket with that information so it doesn’t get lost here in the forums?
Maybe you guys can tell me more about the SQL error I mentioned above. The error log is full of them.
