btw where can I find packages for Revo to download manually?
I want to go ahead even if I can’t get the package manager to work. I looked at the extras section but see there only 0.9.* releases.

Not all packages support Revolution at this time. Package files ending with .transport.zip work in the package manager. You can always install packages the old 096 way, as well; some might still work.

even with new fresh install I can’t get it to work. I used a new zip file.

I see modx in the providers list but no response from the button.
any idea how to troubleshoot this? or what could it be?

      is the correct provider

        • sinbad are you running the alpha or the recently released beta? (I ask because of the /alpha in your path.)

          • Sinbad, if you are using the Advanced and you are not using suPHP or some other CGI-based PHP config, you need to make the root directory writable before proceeding with installation. If you are running from SVN, make sure you keep the files already in place checkbox selected during install.

sorry for the confusion. it is the beta from the public download page. the alpha was just the dir name.
It’s not the Advance package. I thought it’s permission issues so I chmod 777 the connectors dir. I didn’t think to do it for the root dir.
I’ll try again now and post my results.
              thanks.

If it’s not advanced, it should not matter about the root dir, as the files are already there when you extract the package. It should never even try to extract those files. You have me confused now... smiley

Hmm, confusing day for both of us then.

So I tried again fresh install right now, with a new db and now the button respond as it should and the select provider opens up. what the heck.
In previous installations I just overwrited the directories without deleting the db. I think maybe the first install something was messed up,
and just overwriting the files wasn’t enough. but I have no clue if the db could cause that or not.

at least it works now. but all that stress smiley
                  thanks a lot everyone.

I have a weird situation where I can do a fresh installation without any problems but if I try and so an upgrade from revolution it passes all the checks and connects with the databse but the second I hit the install button I get a big Error 500: Internal server error message "A fatal application error has been encountered" message. Has anybody else witnessed this? Any workarounds.

BTW I am running this via xampp on my Windows XP Pro computer

Details heimdall? What package/release are you using? What options are you selecting on the installation mode page (where you select New vs. Upgrade)? What version of XAMPP?
