Dear Developers and community, where are the nobrainer step-by-step tutorials?

I wonder if the developers will include something similar to Batcher into the core of Modx Revo?
For it would be nice to be able to adjust multiple files at one time.

They could include check boxes next to the documents and by choosing more then one and doing a right click extra options could be included.

What do I do with bugs?

It seems when I do things just a little bit too quick for the system, changing a template and then changing the name of the document resource and right afterward pressing save. Can result in a dialog box popping up wanting me to either open or save an index.php file. I do a cancel and the saving bar goes on and on. I have to refresh the browser window and start over.

Is there a way to speed things up?

What about turn off the yes or no confirm dialog box when changing a template in a resource page?

I’m not real thrilled with the extJS interface either. On my elderly iBook it’s really sluggish. I get to look at the Mac spinning beachball a lot.

On an Ibook yeah that would likely be slow.

How do I make a submenu?

I am creating the tutorial site.

For I thought that dragging a document under another document would automatically create a submenu of that document....

Depends. You can do it with CSS, or with javascript. You can use &hideSubMenus to hide submenus until you’ve actually clicked on the main menu. What do you have in mind? The ebook is invaluable; the only thing to keep in mind for Revo vs. Evo is that the tags are different ([[+placeholder]] for Revo, [+placeholder+] for Evo).

For horizontal menu you can use your css_play menu and for vertical it depends what you want. As this is a basic tutorial I think we should try to keep it simple and avoid js if we can. I will have a look around see what I can find.

I installed the Clarity site Pack and it spread files all over my resource area. After having checked out the template and chunks I uninstalled the pack. Suddenly one of my own sites were gone. It even says Clarity demo pack in the title, even though it is uninstalled.

What is a good way to backup sites?

Yes indeed, the install instructions say ’Install using package manager into a ’clean’ site as far as resources are concerned....’ this is because it creates its own resource set based on the Evolution demo site content.

The uninstall should only delete what was installed, not any other stuff.

The install sets your site name to this, on uninstall it could change it but what to?

I made the error of installing the Clarity pack on a system that already had files. Uninstalling took away a home document and other docs I had. It looked weird for I could refresh the browser window and look at the frontend of a page that was gone from the backend.
I uninstalled after I had taken a look at the template and chunks to see the way they had done it. Basically to learn techniques.

O’well stuff happens when one presses a lot of buttons.... now I just got to figure out how to backup.
