      I have a similar problem

      domain.dom is the Spanish site
      domain.dom/en is the English site
      domain.dom/sv is the Swedish site

      It all works well with the correct language chosen based on the user's browser language preference.

      However if the user browser language is English or Swedish then they can't choose Spanish. It bounces them back to the directory based on their browser language with a 301.

      domain.dom/es works in this case but I prefer not to add /es/ to the link.

        Sorry to bounce this, but we have the same issue.
        All is configured as per Jako's guide. What we want to happen is initially have the user be redirected to their home language context but if they choose manually to click on the flag / language of a different language then they can view pages in that context.

        What we have is the user is always forced back to their home language. How do we override that behaviour?

          Looks like the answer could be it's not possible. We'll be moving down the MaxMind route using something similar to Robert_J's solution in this (old) post.
