    Dear members,

    Iam looking for the following:

    1. I want to create an environment where members can sign-up/login (this is simple I guess?)
    2. Members can see some stats(ClassExtender?)
    3. Members can attend to events and pay by credits (this is the part I don't know)

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,
    Ilja

Hi maybe I can get you started.

Signup-login is handled by the login extra, which is a bit old and clunky but works well once its deployed.

For stats, I think you would need ClassExtender. Modx by itself doesn't handle a lot of user info or handle it very well.

For stats, it also depends on what you want to show. Any idea about it?

For signing up for events, that seems easy enough, although I don't know precisely how.

Credits means in-system credits or link to a payment system? Using a payment system isn't too hard, there are some solutions. But an native credit system within your community might be a little involved.

        Hi Nuan,

Thanks so much for the quick response. For the sake of clearity my response in bullets:

        • The login: I'm not familiar with the extra but i guess that's no problem
        • Fields: It's for a personal trainer who has small groups of people he trains. The fields are going to be things like current weight, goals, credits etc. I think about mixing it with ExerPlan, it seems like a nice extra also.
        • Events/credits: A member should be able to sign up for a lesson and pay per credit. The payment can be arrange elsewhere that's not a problem. As long as we can assign credits to a member and when he joins a training(event) a credit is taken from his balance.

        Any tips on that?

        Cheers,
        Ilja

If you extend the user for stats you can store the credits as well, no?

Good idea, so that would be great. But how can I link that to an event attendance?

            So the situation would be:

            1. Member attent to an event(training)
            2. A credit is taken from his balance
            3. OPTIONAL: The member sees who else is coming

            Thanks so much.

For the events there are a couple of extras, but I haven't used them and I'm not sure if you link it to your users. You could create your own event functionality as a custom extra (https://rtfm.modx.com/revolution/2.x/case-studies-and-tutorials/developing-an-extra-in-modx-revolution) or using MIGXdb (https://rtfm.modx.com/extras/revo/migxdb/, haven't used this myself) and link users to events.

Thanks for the reply. I can write a bit of PHP but I dont think I can build the functionality.

MIGX is a reliable, full-featured extra and can do a lot of things, so that might be a good place to start.

I can definitely imagine that the register button of the event could be active if the user has credits, but I am not sure how to take the credit from the user when registering. It can't be that hard, though.

Also, do you want the credit taken just by registering? What if people change their mind or something.

That's exactly how I imagine that too. Maybe create a separate DB that corresponds with the user id? The credit has to be taken off at register but can be undo till an hour before the events starts.

Maybe should I let this be developed by someone?

Cheers and thanks so much for contributing.

Yes you might need to get someone to develop the function to remove or restore the credits. It seems pretty straightforward.

However now that I think about it, you may want to look into classextender more closely. If the credits are stored within CE then that the tool you need must work with CE as well, and its possible that you might be able to do what you need using CE.
