Örgs... Well, PHP 5.2.x is quite outdated, isn't it? Will rewrite it or workaround that.

The open_basedir error is strange. The path there should be core/components/updater/..

Updated to the 0.2.11-beta, and it's still reporting that it's 0.2.10 and needs to be updated.

Maybe the MODX package installer should also have set/check for minimal PHP version info. PHP 5.3 compatibility should be enough these days.

Ah. After a little time, it's now showing the update.

So this Bluehost server is running PHP 5.2.x.

I suppose I should contact my client about getting this upgraded. What version should it be running these days? Should we just skip to the lastest or make incremental upgrades? They have a ton of folders for several domains on this server, I'm not sure what might be affected by this.

            Any suggestions?

@sottwell: the time you were updating it to 0.2.11, the observer was not running of course - therefore the new function did not recognize the cache refresh when you did the update. You can try it with another package.
Btw: of course you will have to reload the dashboard - until now there is no ajaxified widget update smiley. So "immediately" might be not the best word to describe the function...

@terry: take a look at http://php.net/releases/. As you can see, the last 5.2.x version is from Jan-2011. So even if some OS distros maintain older versions for some time, I doubt that this one is still maintained anywhere.
Could not find a concrete roadmap, but the 5.6 and 5.5 branches should do it.

But I am quite sure you will get trouble with the several domains there when you upgrade PHP. I suggest a step by step migration to a newer server, migrating and testing single sites. A lot of work. Start with the MODX sites smiley
On the other hand, keeping sites on old versions can make trouble too - think of Piwik which does no longer support 5.3.x versions...

Good information. I will discuss with my client.

                  Thank you.

Started getting loads of errors in the Manager error log:

Figured out the cause of those errors on the MODX Cloud. The plugins are set as static elements. Did you intend to release them as static elements? (0.2.11-beta)
