Answered Add "folder" to manager menu?

Hi all, fairly new to MODX and I'm having a frustrating time understanding how the menu works in the Manager view. Going to "Menus" under the admin drop down makes it look fairly straight forward. I was able to create a custom menu item which links up to MIGx. Works great. But, what I cant figure out is how to make a folder in the topnav that I can drop my custom item into. So rather than having my items in the Manage drop down, I can have my own which has only the custom functions for the site. Are we talking CMP here? I dont think I need to go that far, since I dont care about a landing page or even if the menu "folder" item is clickable. Feels like I'm missing something

Any help would be appreciated!

When you're in the "Menus" area, click on the "topnav" in the tree, then click the create menu button. There it will create a new top level menu item where you can stick your stuff :~}

Here are a couple screen grabs to show what I'm doing, opened up the create menu dialogue, parent is topnav, call it Menu (or anything else), and click save.



The result? Cant drag anything into it, acts like (for lack of better terms on my part) an 'item' instead of a 'folder'.

Once you've created the new menu item, you should be able to right-click on it and add children, though I haven't tried it lately.

Yes, you can add children but it appears that you can't drag an item into it until it's an actual container with an existing child. Bug or by design?

It does sound like a bug. Dragging something into it should make it a container.

Right-clicking on reveals two choices: Update Menu, and Delete Menu Item. I don't see any way to add children. I had to go into the "modx_menus" table and manually change the parent on one other menu item to the new menu to turn the new one into a folder.

There used to be a third context menu choice: "Place Action Here." Apparently that's gone.
