I'm using the MediaTemple Grid, and I've been having problem after problem. I've running the latest version of PHP, eAccelerator is not enabled, and have updated the proper timezone in the system manager as well as the server offset time, and still - it doesn't help at all.

When you open a resource, and try to change the template (to any other template). The saving dialog opens, and the loader continues on forever, never committing the change. This is killing me, I've Googled and Googled and I've no idea what to do.

          That would be MODX-2.3.2-pl

That's most often caused by a problem with the date/timezone. SiteCheck will do a definitive check on all possible date/timezone mismatches.

If that's not the problem, an issue with mod_security would be the next thing to check.

As reported here: https://github.com/modxcms/revolution/issues/12251, I'm also experiencing the same issue on a Media Temple Grid account. Unless the server log can point to mod_security as a possible culprit, MT's tech folks said there's nothing they can do and that really sucks, because this issue doesn't trigger any event in the server log.

How do we argue this case with them, especially if other CMS (including previous versions of MODX) are doing just fine?

I'm curious to know if @erpcayne was able to fix this.

First, see if making yourself a sudo user fixes it. If so, it's a MODX permissions issue.

If not, MT can turn off mod_security for the Manager directory as a test (if not permanently). If they won't do that, I'd be moving to another host.

Hi BobRay, My user is sudo and the timezone settings are properly set. I've done the usual: clear the cache (MODX and browser), delete cookies, flush permissions. But no luck.

Here's what i've just heard from Media Temple:
Unfortunately with this server type there isn’t a way to disable mod_security. I do apologize.
In other words, unless I can come up with a way around this, I either have to move the site (again) or get VPS package.

I've just moved this site to MT, and it won't be easy moving it again. Anything else I can try?

I'm not an expert in server configuration, but I would be surprised to find that there's a "server type" where modx_security can't be disabled.

                    Anyway, back to the problem:

First, try disabling all plugins (or do them one-by-one if you prefer, starting with ones that might execute when a resource is saved). Delete all files in the core/cache directory after each change before testing.

If that's not it, do you have a copy of SiteCheck? I'm not saying it will solve the problem, but since we're grasping at straws, it will tell you if there are any anomalies like a template or TV with an invalid category or a resource with an invalid parent field.

Hi BobRay. I just tried disabling all plugins, manually emptied the cache and tested. Same thing.

I'll get a copy of SiteCheck by tomorrow to shed some light on this.
