I use the Russian version of ModX 2.2.14, so my MIGX is in Russian, too. When I go to Elements / TVs / Input Options, instead of the words "Configurations", "Form Tabs", "Grid Columns" and others I see there some unreadable words (look at the pic). The problem is that the two-byte codes for Cyrillic letters as one-byte codes and each byte is interpreted separately. Does anybody know a way to correct it? Or at least can I replace these words with their English equivalents?

The second part of this trouble is in editing the table (Resources > Additional Fields). If I put in something in Cyrillic letters and then I want to correct this record, I see in the corresponding fields everything interpreted as the one-byte charset (i.e. unreadable). Does anybory know a way to correct this error? Or should I send a message to the author of MIGX?

I'd like to see the collation on those database fields. Different collations of the same character set can handle multi-byte content differently. [ed. note: sottwell last edited this post 12 years, 1 month ago.]

Other multibyte charsets must have this problem, too -- Chinese, Japanese, Devanagari, etc.

Dear Bruno17, I've just explored the GitHub and discovered that you are the author of MIGX. Are you going to deal with this problem in the nearest future?

If not others have this issue, it might be an individual issue, which has todo with individual server/mysql - settings.
Not sure, how to solve this, without having that same issue.

Indeed, I switched my Manger to Russian, and have no problem with it at all (other than not being able to read Russian, that is). I am using Revo 2.3.1, however.

I believe that these are coming from the tvprops lexicon file for the MIGx lexicons, so you can probably edit them in the Lexicons tool to match whatever character set your browser is using.

Ok, I replaced all Russian words in this file with their English oiginals. And what can you recommend about receiving unreadable one-byte decoded words when trying to edit a line in a MIGX table? On the pic you can see what I receive:

Take a look at the Tables and the individual text fields in PhpMyAdmin to make sure none of them are set to Latin1. I've had tables in MODX end up with the wrong character set when they are added by an Extra. I'm not sure what causes it.

It may work to just reset the character set in the DB, but I would back up the DB first. If it doesn't work, restore the DB and see this: http://bobsguides.com/convert-db-utf8.html

I would take the site off_line (change the site_status System Setting) before making any changes.
