Wayfinder and ACL

I've used this tutorial several times without issue http://bmv-interactive.com/home/modx-acl-tutorial.html but this time I'm seeing odd behavior from a WayFinder-powered menu. I'm reasonably sure it's ACL related because I have a dev copy of the site that has no User Groups defined other than the default MODX values and is otherwise identical and that menu renders fine.

The menu consists of 3 links:

• Home
• Articles
• Contact

For some reason the Contact link is not being generated. The contact page is not hidden from the menu and is set to publish.

I thought perhaps it was related to a custom “Content Editor” Access Policy but I see the same problem if I use the default Administrator policy. I'm not sure where else to look. Ideas?

Is the contact page in a resource group?

If so, why? Are there people who shouldn't see it?

If it needs to be hidden, should it be hidden in the front end or the manager or both?

The contact page is not in either resource group (administrator or editor).

It should not be hidden at all.

A little progress ...

Using the above menu and WF call as the example, if (in the file tree) I swap the 3rd resource (Contact) with the 2nd resource (Articles) then the Contact link appears in the rendered menu, but then the Articles link goes missing.

Despite using,



in the WF call it's only seeing the first 2 resources instead of 3.

What does &limit=`4` get you?

That was the first thing I tried but nothing changed.

I've seen this, but it was a long time ago and I don't remember what caused it -- sorry.

What about &limit=`100` ?


Is the contact page in a different context?

One more thought. Are there resources that are unpublished or hidden from menus in the mix? They may be counted in the &limit even though they're not going to be shown.

Same context (web). No change with 100.

One page is hidden but it sits below the 3 menu pages.
