Update: A test installation on skytoaster downloaded and unpacked modx right away. Took about 30 seconds. Nice!
At the end I got two error message. I filed an issue at gihub:

You can easily upgrade/repair a modx installion with this tool. I did this today and it went extremly smooth!

Revo 2.2.13 is released already.
I wonder if MODX could supply a URL for "latest release", rather than requiring a specific release URL?

Just to confirm from my own experience - using this for upgrading on my MAMP localhost works beautifully. I just edited the .php file to download 2.2.13 instead of 2.2.12.
Just tried this. Very slick!
