        I’m not sure what do you mean by that..
        I have Apache running on XP, and number of
        name-based virtual hosts under apache.

        other hosts are running just fine. and other
        CMSs on them -- install and running without
        any problems.

          That’s where it came from. Could have been running Virtuozzo or VMware, and just wanted to clarify that for those that might be wondering.

          I’ve not run into the looping at install before so maybe someone can clear it up. Could be a permissions issue I suppose on the files/directories but honestly not sure. Might be a corrupt file...

            No, i have no virtual mashines. It was about Apache VirtualHost directive:

            [tt]<VirtualHost *:80>
            DocumentRoot "G:/public_html/modx/"
            ServerName modx
            ServerAlias *.modx
            ErrorLog logs/modx.log
            CustomLog logs/modx.log common
            </VirtualHost>[/tt]
            in httpd.conf and

            [tt]127.0.0.1 modx[/tt]
            in XP hosts file

            I’d appreciate if somebody would.

            I’ll try to re-download it tomorrow, to check it twice.

              That particular page of the installation is opening the lang folder to read in the available language files. I’ve found that sometimes when dealing with relative file paths (as opposed to relative URLs) it needs to be "./subdirectory/" instead of "subdirectory/". These should both evaluate to the same thing, the path is relative to the current directory. It may be that this is causing the problem for you.

              The file is /install/action.language.php, lines 4 and 7. Try changing that path to ./lang/ and see if that helps.

                line 4 -- ok, but line 7 reads as follows:
                			if (is_dir($setupPath."lang/".$file)) {

                if we’ll change it to
                			if (is_dir($setupPath."./lang/".$file)) {

                it will be interpreted as
                DRIVE:/modxdir/./lang/filefromvar

                strange transcription..

                anyway, this part of action.language.php works fine, if we add print_r($langs); to original file (after line 15) it returns:
                Array
                (
                    [0] => english
                    [1] => french
                    [2] => german
                    [3] => russian
                    [4] => spanish
                    [5] => svenska
                )
                <form name="install" action="index.php?action=welcome" method="post">
                	<table width="100%">
                	<tr>
                	<td valign="top">
                		<center><img src="

                but well, anyhow, even if i put plain urls and text there for images etc, http://modx/install/index.php?action=language
                just refreshes itself:
                <html><head><title>Loading...</title><script>window.location.href=’http://modx/install/index.php?action=language’;</script></head><body></body></html>
                which means for me that works "session loop-back tester" (install/index.php lines 18-27)
                I’m not sure what does it means but well, loopback works wink

                How to get working rest part of installation, please? )

                Seems like something’s wrong with session vars, but how to fix it?

                  There’s a thread over here with the same problems: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=18730.0
                  Seems like PHP 5.2.4 + Win32 is not a marriage made in heaven...

                  actually, everything else works just fine on my PHP 5.2.4 + Win32
                  ie common engines: WordPress, OsCommerse, Drupal, my- and phpBB, even such a monster as Bitrix ))

                  Again, I’m not using IIS as does guy in your link.. Apache-PHP-MySQL..

                  Seems like something wrong with sessions, as I mensioned in prev. post..
                  Normally, Install should just drop a message regarding it instead of infinite loop on self-reloads..

                    Check in the IIS windows forum and there are a few tips for trying to get around this.

                    It seems that something has been addressed in the next release that covers this issue. The windows user community here is not the largest but there are some helpful people. Maybe edit the tread title to include more specifics to attract the right user base.

                      I am caught in the loop as well at the language.

                      Platform Debian
                      MySQL Version 5.0.45
                      PHP Version 4.4.7

                      Tried the path fix above but to no avail. Was a solution ever found?
