    Hello,

    I am trying to get news publisher setup on a site and everything is more or less working fine, but when I setup the TV with tiny and viewed the page I noticed some problems. (see screenshot)

    This is one of the first times I can’t really explain a problem or even figure out where to start to resolve the problem. I have looked at the page source and don’t have any clue what exists that might be getting styled or what not.

    Here is the source:
    <p><label for="bodytext" class="left">Content:</label><div class="MODX_RichTextWidget"><textarea id="tvblogContent" name="tvblogContent" style="width:100%; height:300px;"></textarea></div><script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="/assets/plugins/tinymce212/jscripts/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js"></script>
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="/assets/plugins/tinymce212/xconfig.js"></script>
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    	tinyMCE.init({
    		  theme : "simple",
    		  mode : "exact",
    		  width : "100%",
    		  height : "300px",
    		  relative_urls : true,
    		  document_base_url : "/",
    		  remove_script_host : true,
    		  language : "en",
    		  elements : "tvblogContent",
    		  valid_elements : tinymce_valid_elements,
    		  extended_valid_elements : tinymce_extended_valid_elements,
    		  invalid_elements : tinymce_invalid_elements,
    		  entity_encoding : "named",
    		  cleanup: true,
    		  apply_source_formatting : true,
    		  remove_linebreaks : false,
    		  convert_fonts_to_spans : "true",
    		  onchange_callback : "tvOnTinyMCEChangeCallBack",
    		  button_tile_map : false

    	});

      function tvOnTinyMCEChangeCallBack(i){
        if (i.oldTargetElement.onchange) {
          i.oldTargetElement.onchange();
        }
      }
    </script></p>

    I’m at a loss here so any suggestions on how I can resolve this issue are very welcome! I would be fine with just a textbox and I manually code everything, but I need something semi functional and as is this isn’t functional.

    Thanks

        It looks to me like the CSS is getting stepped on by some other conflicting CSS.

          Without being able to see the code for the editor I can’t really fix the problem... Do you know where I can find the code or how I can just turn the field into a standard text box that accepts html formating?

            Do you have firebug? It usually comes in handy to identify what styling is being applied to an element in a web page.

              I had a similar bug when using the RTE widget but with FDM. In my case the problem was because there was an element on the page with the same ID name as the one for the editor. Check out the document with a validator and this could help find if there are any double IDs or other a normalities that could cause this. ANd also check for conflicting styles, I use the web developer toolkit in FF to help with this.

                Hello,

                Firebug was just the ticket, a few extra styling lines and problem resolved! Thanks for helping sound things out.

                Oh, one last question... How do I get the link button to show up?

                Thanks

                  I think the link button only shows up for manager users.

                    What’s the point of news publisher then if you still need to login to the manager to add links?

                    I’m hoping to eliminate the need to login to the manager to post new so any suggestions on resolving this are welcome.

                      I am referring to the button to open the document manager that is in the link pop-up panel. The actual link button should work for web users. If the button is not showing check to see if it is setup to show. There is info in the wiki on configuring the TinyMCE extensions: http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/TinyMCE
