hello everybody!
alright. lets say i want to have a static navigation. the reason is mainly because of my design. how do i skip the wayfinder and tell modx that it should load a certain document (i guess by its id). i also guess that this is the technique to load a document within a link inside some content.
any hints?
thanks a lot

you can find a list of most of the tags here:
http://modxcms.com/modx-tags.html
but you can link to a document by using [~DOCID~] such as
why a static menu?
almost all menu’s can be made using wayfinder.

Actually, if the document structure that shapes a particular menu isn’t going to change there’s really not much purpose to using Wayfinder, unless you want to style the "current" link to show it’s being used. No point in processing a whole Wayfinder snippet call if it’s not serving any purpose.
I agree with Susan. I use static menus for most of my small sites because their menus wont change and it saves some processing.

And it’s pretty easy to style the "curent" link with TVs and a very lightweight snippet.
That said, I usually use Wayfinder because you never know when the site will need re-organization and, with caching, the processing isn’t that big an issue.

Bob,
What’s your ’current’ TV call?

Bob,

I was afraid someone would ask.
I did it quite a while ago and I don’t remember on which site, sorry.
I think GaneshXL’s solution is a much better one anyway. I never visit the Forums without learning something new.

wow thats great! It still wouldnt answer the ’active’ menu issue I dont think.
