Hi Teastrainer,
It's hard to know where to start with your question. The things displayed on the drop-down menu in your screenshot are styles, not fonts. You're not really "editing text into MODX," you're working with a rich-text editor (looks like TinyMCE) which happens to be installed in MODX. Fonts and styles in a document really have nothing to do with MODX, since MODX will save whatever the rich-text editor hands off to it, which is plain text that may or may not contain markup that specifies styles and fonts.
Are you asking how to add styles to TinyMCE? There's a way to get TinyMCE to read your own CSS file and show your styles, but I can't remember exactly how to do that. I think it's part of TinyMCE's settings.
Ah right... cheers Bob... Wasn't sure, is there a way to change the font on the HTML source within the editor? <Ariel> or something like that?
No worries if not
I'm sure there are several ways to do that, but I do all my writing in MODX in straight HTML in whatever font happens to be used. I'm not even sure I have TinyMCE installed locally.
Someone else can surely answer this.
No worries Bob! I Think I was expecting MS Word within this TinyMCE thing for some reason
TinyMCE will let you specify a CSS file and all the styles and fonts listed in that file should show up on the Style dropdown, so you could style any part of the text any way you want. I just can't remember how to do tell TinyMCE where the CSS file is.
Or just use your site's CSS file (assuming that it has one).
I'm not sure I'd have to ask my mate about that kind of thing.

The site's CSS file usually won't work, since TinyMCE is within its own HTML container elements, not the same container elements as the template's content area.
