Bruno, if you would have packaged your component with Revo 2.3 (i assume you did it on a 2.2 core), i doubt you would have to change the field type since the schema/maps are updated.

sure, but currently I'm still developing and packaging on 2.2 and I think, it doesn't have any side-effects changing the phptype at this point, before calling fromArray()

Don't you also think the discussion to this problem goes the wrong way? I think Revo 2.3 should handle this for itself. The keyword is backwards compatibility!
