Installing Ryan's branch of 2.3 on localhost, then moving it to the Cloud.
2.3 localhost installation:
- Download the .zip from https://github.com/rthrash/revolution
- Unzip it in your localhost web space.
- Create a database. Make a note of username, password, database name.
- Edit the four sample build files in the _build directory. Use your localhost paths and the database info for the database you created. Save them without the sample part in their filenames.
- Run the transport.core.php file in your browser.
- Install as usual, using setup. Don't remove the setup folder at the end. Make sure it's working as expected.
- Dump the database and zip up the installation (you can get rid of the _build directory).
To the Cloud:
- Create a new dev Cloud. Make a note of its database connection information.
- Install phpMyAdmin
- Log in via ssh and delete all the MDOx files (leave the phpmyadmin folder).
- Use scp or sftp to upload your zipped 2.3 files.
- Using the ssh command line, unzip your 2.3 archive and move the files to the web root.
- Delete the directories in the core/cache/ directory (you could do this on localhost before you zip it up).
- Log in to your phpmyadmin and drop all the tables.
- Import the database dump you made.
- Run setup using the Advanced Upgrade Install method, using the information from the original Cloud installation's database - it's the same login as for the phpMyAdmin installation. If you prefer, you can edit the core/config/config.inc.php file and the three config.core.php files (root, connectors and manger). Change the paths and the database connection information. The paths will be something like /paas/c000/www/core/

That's for the regular 2.3 development branch; you can get its installation package from the "
Nightlies" download link. Ryan's branch is quite different; you need to build its package before you can install it.
Are you sure that 2.3 is released tomorrow? 82 issues still open according to that URL.

I doubt it will be released now; that was just a target date.
Not complaining, as I like surprises as much as the next guy, but I vote that the roadmap issue list thingy is updated more accurately.
2.3 could appear at absolutely any time between yesterday and Christmas, but there's no guarantee it'll progress beyond 17% completion until it's done.
