Well said good sir! I think beyond the traditional usages of MODX, there are a fair number of us that use MODX in ways in which Ryan and gang could never have foreseen, but that serve our purposes amazingly!
Quote from: sparkyhd at Apr 12, 2013, 04:05 AMHow is it possible that these same brains can't mimic that clarity of thought in their marketing and business planning? It's got to be something to do with the left side vs the right side of the brain I guess.
From my experience working in almost 40 clients over the years, what I realize is that we are trained to think of a company as a unified entity. This isn't logical because we know that companies are made up of individuals and that individuals, through either personality or role, have different goals on how they want to "take things to the next level". The developers focus on the product in making it awesome, and those with a marketing bent to them try to do the same with market awareness of the product and trying to show the product in the best light possible.
Unfortunately, on the marketing side, there is a tendency to spin things to the point that the spin eclipses the message, so that the message becomes a goal of what a company wants to be rather than what it actually is. Then the company internally starts to actually believe their own marketing. And that's where companies tend to start to fail.
Given the above information, the separation of MODX and SiphonLabs allows the marketing side to focus on a product which will help bring in the money (i.e. SiphonLabs) and MODX can go back to focusing on letting the product shine on its own, rather than have everything go thorugh the marketing filter.
