    Greeting ModX People,

    Wow it’s been awhile for issues or problems with me. Let me give you a description of the issue here, 2 months ago my life got crazy, apartment shopping, furniture shopping, 60+hr weeks, anyway I noticed in that time that my website now doesn’t display any information on the website at all, all the pages have just gone to a blank white page. I did no changes nothing at all just went blank. I don’t know if any major changes or random stuff was down to my server that I’m hosted on I didn’t get any emails stating anything major was changing.

    Any help on getting my site back up? Here is the stat info you guys would like to have:

    Web Server:

    * PHP version 4.3.11 (unknown how it’s running)
    * Apache 1.3.33
    * Linux (ver unknown)

    Database:

    * MySQL 4.1.22-standard

    MODx:

    * Version 0.9.5 (first release)
    * Plugins: Anti-Spam Email, AutoLink

    Browser/Client:

    * Firefox 2 & IE7
    * Windows XP SP2

    Thanks in advanced for all the help.

      If you upgrade you may get blank pages somehow but this is not the case, did you checked the existance of MODx files and database tables in your server?

        Mot,

        I’m not 100% sure what you are asking, but yes I looked into the SQL database and all the tables are there and they have different sizes to them, but I not real good at looking at that stuff with the fear of doing something wrong in there and mess up the database.

        Any thoughts on what to check or do about getting my webpage back up?

          Can you access the manager? Have you tried clearing the site cache from the manager? Not much to go on here...

            Izumi,

            As Jason says try to login to the manager and if you fail check the presence of files by FTP or Cpanel or whatelse your host provider is offering to you to work with your files, therefore you should have all the necessary files/folders in your MODx site root(base path of MODx files on your server), check the files whether they are the same with the one you downloaded from modxcms.com, last but not least check the presence of manager/includes/config.inc.php file within your files, open/edit that file to check the database table name/prefix, username/password etc... to be correct!.

              Yes I was able to access the manager and did clear the cache but I tried to log in tonight here and somehow locked out and/or blocked my admin account from logging in. I think it still has a timer on when I can try again so I’ll try again after work tomorrow and let you know, if not if you have a quick edit I can do tomorrow to unblock/lock my admin account.

              Sorry that there isn’t much to go on, just let me know what other information you need to help me.

              Mot,

              Yes I checked the config file and all the correct information is in there, in the SQL database all the tables have the prefix of modx like they are suppose to.

                If you didn’t change the default value of blocking period given by MODx You can access the manager after 1hour, well there is nothing else to suggest in my opinion!, maybe you don’t have any documents! at all? so when you get to the manager check that wether or not document tree is populated with published documents?

                  I know I have an unfair advantage, coming from a database development background, but I can’t emphasize enough the value of getting familiar with your database. Learn phpMyAdmin, or get a desktop MySQL client from the MySQL website and learn how to work directly in the database.

                  http://dev.mysql.com/doc/#gui-tools

                  It is not something you want to do regularly, because using the MODx database interface (and really, that’s all the Manager is) will be better since it was written to do exactly what is needed, but every now and then something like this comes up and it is important to be able to go into the database and clear the block, or replace the password, or whatever.

                  It is really worth the time to take a few minutes a day for a week or two and make friends with your database.

                    OK here is my results thus far.

                    Open - I have cleared the cache many times no change yet, the pages do state the page has not been cache yet. Not sure if that enlightens anything on my issue?

                    Mot - Yes the config file is just fine and yes all the SQL tables are there, and yes there are still content in each of my pages.

                    Susan - Hey long time no chat, yes I agree with you 100% but those of us that work 60 hour weeks and other life stuff we don’t have that kind of free time to make nice with our databases at least not in my case at my current status ^_^ Hopfully soon thou I do want to get a job dealing with database stuff but that is one my life calms down and lets me study SQL and other things.

                    Any other thoughts and suggestions or questions let me know.

                      Are you able to preview ANY pages, or able to view the source code of any, it could possibly be a snippet problem, perhaps host upgraded their servers (version of PHP, MySql, etc)
                      What you might want to do is enable PHP error checking and reporting, if there is a parsing error, it usually results in a blank page.
