    Greetings,
After much reading and testing, I still haven't quite found anything that does what I'm looking for. Essentially, I need to be able to have the wonderful ModX back-end for managers, but create a kind of "simplified" interface of content fields for users who just want to create and/or edit from the front end.

NewsPublisher seems to have lots of potential, and I'm testing it a bit more now. But I'm hoping for a way to use ModX native TVs and just make the fields available on the front end, with access controls. I'd like to be able to template my front-end entry forms the same way I can template content (resources) in ModX. One of the biggest atractions of ModX is its flexible templating!

I found this: http://upfront.butter.com.hk/. It seems to go in the right general direction, but its development halted?

I feel like I'm getting closer. It seems like it must be possible to make this happen in such a flexible system like ModX.

    Thanks,
    Matthew

PS: Just for clarification, the way Concrete5 does front-end editing is pretty much what I'm talking about here. I am not comparing Concrete5 to ModX! [ed. note: MatthewSchenker last edited this post 13 years, 11 months ago.]

Matthew, having never used Concrete5 I don't know what Front Editing on that CMS looks like, the only way I see you accomplishing this fast and easy is using NewsPublisher, you might need to have different NewsPublisher calls depends on how your Templates and their TVs differ.

Other than that probably looking into soemthing like FormIt2Resource but that seems more complicated IMHO than using NewsPublisher.

      Good luck.

        Greetings,
Thanks benmarte. I only mention Concrete5 because it's an easy way to show what I mean. In general, I much favor the way ModX does everything.

Essentially, I like the way ModX handles every aspect of site building. And perhaps I put too much emphasis on what some might call "front-end CMS" functions. But pretty much, what I like to do is give customers the ability to create, review, update, and delete from the front end without having to look at all the other CMS functions.

I'm testing NewsPublisher and FormIt2Resource now. Both of them seem to almost do what I'm talking about. But I'm also looking for ways to just use ModX TVs differently, perhaps. Not sure...

This is a very good learning experience!

        Thanks,
        Matthew

          Greetings Again,
Sorry for the post-posting, but here I found a discussion that is exactly what I'm talking about:

          http://www.butter.com.hk/blog/posts/2010/december/code-jam:-part-i-front-end-resource-editer-for-modx-revolution.html

Yes! Editing TVs, etc -- that's precisely what I'm after. Does anyone know what happened with this project?

          Thanks,
          Matthew
