This is probably easy, but I'm perplexed.
I have a multi-context site, in which the newest context is duplicated once per year. Each of these contexts contains a few thousand pages. There is a "manager" User Group, and that person has pretty much full view/edit/delete/save access (with some minor form customizations) to all contexts.
That's how it's set up now; however, I've decided I'd like to restrict edit access to ONLY the newest context. In other words, I want some way to be able to restrict the other contexts in the manager to only be viewable by this same "manager" User Group. They will not be able to edit, save or delete anything.
Can anyone explain how they'd go about this? Thanks!

I should clarify that unless there's an incredibly simple way to do it, I don't want to have to manually add thousands of pages to a resource group every time I protect a context.

for how many users?
I think that would affect the answer.

Realistically, I can keep this to a handful of people, if that makes it easier for the solution you have in mind. In a perfect world, though, this would be set by User Group, so I could apply it to as many people as I want all at once.

You need to add the user within another usergroup that has different resource group access that owns the same resouce group but with different access policy for the particular context.
say that five times fast!
or, picture says a thousand words.

I can't even say it one time fast!
Thanks, but if I'm understanding you and the graphic correctly, doesn't that require me to add all of a context's resources to a resource group, in order to protect them? Is there a bulk way to add/remove them? If not, I don't think this is realistic for me, because each resource contains thousands of pages.

Correct.

I can feel your pain.
AFAIK, currently, there is none.
CMIIW.
You would need to create another add on to do this, a CMP for the exact.

ow, one more thing,
for the current resources, you could create a temporary snippet that would generate the resource group for the resources under the particular context.
run the snippet once.
then delete it.

It's a pity that Batcher doesn't include that capability.
Ah. I see that's in the Roadmap. Hopefully after the forum gets released they'll have the time to implement it.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I was afraid that the only answer was adding the context(s) to a Resource Group, but I hadn't thought about the obvious -- writing a snippet or plugin to do it for me! I would like to see this in Batcher or as built-in functionality, but for now this will work. I'll post my snippet code after I write it. Thanks!
