    Hi, I'm working with a site in ModX Revolution. It's working in all browsers besides IE8. The links does not work at all. Not regular links in html or the links in the menu created by wayfinder. In IE 9 the links works fine. Why?

    Thank you! [ed. note: enestedt last edited this post 14 years, 2 months ago.]

      Can you post a URL so we can see what happens?

          I'm getting a javascript error in versions 7 and 8. The script still runs in version 7, or at least if it's failing it's not making much of an impact, but fails to run in IE 8. In fact, the whole page is pretty well trashed in 8.

          I don't get the error popup in 9 or 10 (or 6, for that matter, although the drop-down menus don't work in 6). The developer tools' console in 10 doesn't show any errors.

            Ok, wierd. The menu is just bulit with css, not javascript. And the textboxes in the white border in the bottom is just ordinary html-text with a link in. That should not affect by a javascript error, should it?

              Depends on how the browser is dealing with the javascript. IE is not noted for being the most stable browser available.

              I would suggest making a very basic, simple template, until you get one that works in IE 8, then start adding the stuff you have in your regular template, and see what breaks it.

                I have tried to remove the javascript in the template for the startpage but it does not change anything, the links does not work anyway. Its just on the startpage, the other pages and templates works fine (it is the same javascript in these templates as on the startpage). The template that is used for the startpage is not that different from the others, its just some html that is different. [ed. note: enestedt last edited this post 14 years, 2 months ago.]

                  You might try turning off the compress_js (and maybe compress_css) System Settings (and clearing the cache).

                    Try validating the page in the W3C validator.

                      I did validating the page and there was one or two errors and I corrected them, but it did not solve the problem. But I think I know what the problem is now! I deleted the css code that generated the background image and without the image the links start working. Wierd, because I use the exakt same code on the other pages and it works there.

                      Here is the css code I deleted:
                      <style type="text/css">
                      html {
                      	background: url(images/start.jpg) no-repeat center center fixed;
                      	-webkit-background-size: cover;
                      	-moz-background-size: cover;
                      	-o-background-size: cover;
                      	background-size: cover;
                      	filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src='.images/start.jpg', sizingMethod='scale');
                      -ms-filter: "progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader(src='images/start.jpg', sizingMethod='scale')";
                      }
                      </style>

                      Someone who knows why it works on one page and not the other? Or is there an other way to get a background-image that scales to fit the browser window? Thank you!
