Is there some permission setting that would prevent chunks from getting processed on the front end? This is driving me batty. Pages display, and snippets are all working, but none of the chunks get processed unless the user is logged in as at least a page editor.
Forgot to mention, I'm using Revolution 2.2.2

Have you made any modifications to the default security settings, ACLs, resource groups etc? This definitely should not happen under the default settings, but other than that I'm not sure what to tell you.
Yes, I have made modifications in the confusing mess of settings, but I can not find what specific setting might be causing this.

Well, normally anonymous users just have the "load only" access policy, which just gives them load permission for all elements, and that seems to work fine. I'm not sure how you could give them even less permissions than that.
If anonymous has some sort of custom access policy with more complex settings, check if they have the "view chunk" permission.
That's about all I can think of.
That's what I can't find, a "view chunk" permisson. The anonymous user has the Load Only access policy assigned, which has just "load" checked off.
I just tried something, though. I took one of the chunks out of its assigned category, so that it has no category, and it's showing up! So it has something to do with categories . . .
First, try changing from 'Load Only' to 'Load, List, and View'.
It sounds like your main problem, though, may be an Element Category Access ACL entry that has a context of 'web'. Change that to 'mgr' (or delete it) and it may solve your problem.

Tried that already with no luck. I looked for and deleted any and all Element Cateory Access entries in the ACL, and still no luck. I ended up reinstalling from scratch, copying back in all the snippets/chunks/etc., and starting from scratch with the permissions (after reading the Security section in your book), keeping things much more simple, and everything is working now. The permissions structure sure is complicated!
I wonder if you remembered to clear the cache, flush permissions, and flush all sessions after deleting the ACL entries. You may have fixed it without knowing it.
Anyway, I'm glad you got it working.
Remember that you almost never want an Element Category Access ACL entry with a context of 'web' (or any front-end context), because all that will do is keep elements in the Category from working in the front end.

Yes, I flushed everything multiple times. Not only that, another weird thing was happening toward the end. When I clicked on a template variable to edit it (logged in as superadmin), I got only a blank screen on the right! No warning, no error, just a blank screen, with the file list on the left. I figured something was seriously hosed.
