The results would be useful for setting site width to the most popular screen resolution.
It is possible by using stats too but your voting is important.

    Thanks

Depending on your audience, the average website visitor unfortunately is not a web designer. 1024 x 768 still seems to be the most common.

Yeah, sure, we’re not the typical guy... I know I either work in 1920 x 1200 (Apple Cinema Display 23") or my MacBookPro 17" screen which is 1680x1050... not typical !

I share robot’s point of view, better stick with 1024 for now !

I still tend to try to keep important content below the 800x600 threshold.

My laptop is another vote for unusual dimensions @ widescreen 1440/900, and my desktop is @ 1152/768.

When designing sites I am currently working at around 900–920px for a lot of new sites – I was beginning to feel rather constrained by sub-800px layouts with so many 1024px+ users in my stats.

My resolution is 1900*1600, but I never have my browser maximised. So my resolution doesn’t really tell the size of the browserwindow that is available for the site wink (The width of the current bowserwindow is 1062 pixels).

I’ve got two desktops; each with a WS monitor running at 1680x1050.

Personally, I find a fixed width layout of about 900 pixels to be good for readability. A bit extra is OK if more than 2 columns are used.

see the limits, base your design on’em, below is 800*600 and average is 1024 in which is the most visitors display resolution... higher res makes no sense when you want to be global as much as possible!

like in a 3 column design first column and the content fit in 800x600 ? smiley

I use 1680x1050 (main desktop), 1280x1024 (2nd desktop and work), and 1440x900 (laptop). Doing a site I’ll make it for 1024x768 though.
