Hey,
the server that I’m attempting to install modx 0.9.6 on is having issue with the the directory named /manager
I sent in a problem ticket and this was the response
"This is due to a global alias made for Tomcat. Can your directory be /Manager or something different?"
can we change it?
thanks
SS
what if I did a global replace on the word "manager" case sensitive ?? and replaced with "administrator" case sensitive
all variables would be changed along with the path right?
SS
I did this back in 0921 and it worked fine (I also changed the name of the main index.php but thats a diff story), but I did it on a page by page basis to make sure nothing got banged up... so it should be possible, just very time consuming and done very carefully.
Note that all snippets, templates, plugins, and every single file on the site must be checked just to make sure...
well I just got the global replace of the word "manager" all 1300+ times this included all variables and strings we’ll see. if it doesn’t have the desired effect I’ll have to limit the changes to something like "manager/" or "/manager" any other ones I could be forgetting?
thanks
I’ll let you know how its going after I upload again.

You will likely have to change some items that are stored in the database as well so be sure and check there too just to be safe....
isn’t that initiated by the install script? so if I changed every reference to the word "manager" shouldn’t that take care of it?
sorry if this is a stupid question I’m just learning now about mysql databases
SS
Yes, that should have altered all instances so all should be fine.
I am very interested in your results
I would love to know how well this went as well.
Chuck
Yeah, me too, but I bet it didn’t go too well. Mass changing files like this always comes with problems.
If it doesn’t work and you want an easier solution, how about installing MODx in a sub-folder? Tomcat uses the public_html root, and not folders within it.
