Hi all, I’m somewhat challenged to do this, but not sure what would be the best approach or if it is even doable.

    Here is my scenario:

    1) I have a template variable with a list of restaurant types, this way, content editors can easily check the boxes of those type of meals a restaurant features. Ex: International, Mediterranean, Italian... etc.
    2) I have many restaurants accessing this template variable, each restaurant is a separate document.
    3) All restaurants use the same Design Template.

What I want to do is:

    1) Have a side block where I can dynamically load the TV options, so I would have a list of each restaurant type displayed.
    2) Each restaurant type will be linked to a page (like a search result page) where all restaurants matching this type will be brought up.
    3) As I may be able to add more restaurant types in the near future, ideally I would like the side block to dynamically load the available types from the database so I don’t need to manually update the template every time. So if a new option is added in the TV, as soon as I add a couple of restaurants to that type, the menu option should be visible.

    My theory:

In the admin area, the TV options are loaded with a widget, at the moment I have it as check boxes... I believe this is similar to the approach I want to enable, just that in this case, instead of checkboxes I would like to have a structured unordered list, so every option appears to be a filter. The tricky part is the linking, they should all link to a page in general, or individually which will then filter the results, for this I could use ditto, but I am not sure how I would dynamically instruct ditto to use a variable from the URL so I don’t have to create a page for each different ditto call.

    The Big Challenge:

The big challenge if this is doable, and the big picture is, using a range of TV’s all together to filter results. Something similar to amazon when shopping inside a category, as you can filter by a wide range of criteria, like: manufacturer, price range, rating and so on. I have created custom TV’s where content editors select the appropriate values for each piece of content added to the site. I would like the side block to be able to use all those available selections as TVs to filter results per their liking.

I greatly appreciate any direction with this.

    Best regards,
    Jose R. Lopez

I dont have the links handy, but search for "tvExplorer" or "tvEditor".

      hope this helps.

          Hi,

I am the author of tvexplorer and tveditor.
The module and the snippet are not yet public.

I’m missing time to finish it and most of all to document it.
Here is a sample form created with tvexplorer => http://www.deco-in.com/recherche-avancee

I will do my best to make it public ASAP but I don’t promise anything

                Hey Jose,

Could you use the tagging functionality in Ditto2?

Thanks for this, it looks interesting, I need to take a closer look tonight and see if it fits the schema I have setup already or if I need to make changes for it to work. I still like the idea of tvexplorer a whole bunch more, it looks very promising.

                      Regards,
